Gabe was a most unusual horse. In all the horses we have taken in over the last sixteen years, never have we found one more gentle, kind and willing than Gabe. He never did anything wrong. He was always the horse that we would use to give rides to volunteers and to the kids at our annual open houses. He was our ambassador of good will and loved everybody. Whhenever Bonnie and Honey would get too loud with their squealing at each other Gabe would simply go between them and break up any altercation. Over the years that we had him, Gabe entertained hundreds of little kids like girl scouts, and 4-H. He could have a dozen of them around him yelling and jumping up and down and he would never move a muscle. He really had a deep love of little kids and was always happy to have them around. The day before he died, we had a family come out and visit with two little girls and some baby carrots. Gabe came all the way across the pasture to see the little girls and get a carrot. After Gabe died, we were talkng to Robyn DeVoist, an animal communicator friend of ours and she told us Gabe really liked being around the two little girls. He was the one horse we would have cloned if we could have. Gabe will be sorely missed by everyone at the rescue.

This economy has reeked havoc on millioms of people nationwide. People have lost their jobs and homes. Animals are being abandoned by the score because families can no longer afford to feed or house them. We are no different. At one point the rescue was down to $20 and running low on hay and feed. People stepped up and donated money and feed so that we may continue to care for our horses. Lori's Natural Foods store donated $1000 and their employees got their customers to donate. A group of Girl Scouts donated $359 in feed. Two other anonymous donors purchased feed at Country Max in Batavia. We have come to realize that no matter how much we may complain about weather or the hard and arduous work involved in caring for so many horses for so many years, that none of this would be possible without you, the donor. To each and every one of you, we humbly thank you. From the customers who drop change from their purchases into the collection cans at various stores in the area, the nun that can only afford to give $5 a few times a year, the girl scouts that collect cans and bottles and to people like John and Lori Sozio from Lori's Natural Foods. You are all so important to the lives of these wonderful horses. You are the ones saving these majestic animals. We here at the rescue are only the care givers. You are the catalyst that makes everything happen. Please don't ever think that your quarters or dollars are not that important. If a million people eah gave us a quarter, we would have enough money to last five years based on our current budget. If a million people each gave one dollar, the rescue would have enough money to last for many years just by living off the interest. We would never have to be in a panic because we were out of feed or hay. I guess what Chris and I are saying is that we appreciate every thing each of you have done for the horses over the last almost sixteen years. I wish we had the space here to thank each one of you personally but that would take up too much room. There are literally hundreds and hundreds of people over the years that have donated only once or many times. We love you all for supporting our efforts to save as many horses as we can in the time we have left on this earth.
